So, what exactly did Dick Durbin feel the need to apologize for? 

And did the apology do him, or us, any good?

One thing I do know: A tearful apology didn't help the cause at all.

Durbin's a good guy, a D-Ill, not a D-MBNA or a D-FUX, but.... WTF?
