Kerry drawing good crowds: Are you on the bus, or off it?
15,000 in Scranton, PA (Red portion of a swing state, back), now 5,000 in the steady rain in Greensburg, PA (ditto), 12,000 in Wheeling, West Virginia, 10,000 in Zanesville, OH (another swing state)...
Not too shabby.
So we have a 15-day, 22 state Kerry campaign bus tour—using surface transportation entirely (no planes).
It's an interesting pre-emption of the slime Rove is going to start hurling with his usual abandoned ferocity. The bus spells genuine, the tour is going to generate lots of local coverage, and if things work out, the tour will become a framework for stories in itself. Who knows? Kerry may start this tour as a candidate, and end it as a rock star! Well....
And 5000 in the steady rain—that is an interesting data point.
Hope is on the way!
