"The WhiteWash Commission" [encore]

I'm becoming more and more happy with this name—"The WhiteWash Commission"—for Bush's commission on the intelligent use of intelligence, or whatever the heck he's calling it.

First, it's got those W's in it. Like W hisself, and aWol: WhiteWash.

Second, it describes Bush's modus operandi perfectly. A whitewash is what you do after lying, to cover it up.

Third, the buried metaphor in "whitewash" directly attacks Bush's perceived integrity as a SIC. From Matthew (King James version):

[27]Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness.
[28] Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

Fourth, "whitewash" lends itself to all sorts of combinations: for example, WhiteWash House. In fact, I'm going to start using "WhiteWash House" instead of "White House" from this point forward.

So, I think The WhiteWash Commission, The WhiteWash House, and the concept of WhiteWashing in general, are all memes that deserve heavy propagation. Readers?

UPDATE And, naturally, the WhiteWashington Post (from alert reader Don Hopkins).
